I was born in the Buenos Aires borough of Palermo, in a family
of Argentine musicians. |
|
My grandfather was a “bandoneonist” for the Juan
Maglio “Pacho” and Osvaldo Fresedo
Band, and my uncle Osvaldo Avena
was a renowned violinist and Argentine music composer.
As a little girl I used to take part in my family's rehearsals,
and my mothers tells me grandpa liked to play bandoneón
beside my cradle so I would fall asleep.

Still very young I already saw the world of music and poetry
as my true path, and that I wanted to be a singer so I could
be next to all those great artists I had met.
|
|
At
the age of 17 my career in music began, as I accompanied Argentine
poet Hector Negro. At that time my house was a gathering point
for great artists, poets and composers, such as Mercedes
Sosa, Susana Rinaldi, Pablo Milanês, Silvio Rodriguez,
Chabuca Granda, José Angel Trelles, Armando Tejada Gómez,
Hamblet Lima Quintana, Osvaldo Piro, Facundo Cabral
and others. |

My
dreams got bigger, and one day backstage at the Buenos
Aires Odeón Theater a recording manager
heard me and decided to hire me as the female vocalist of a
group. It turned out to be the most important horizon of Latin
American music in Brazil: Raíces
de América. |
|
My
connection with Brazil became
deep and permanent, as my daughter was
born in this nation, and my life changed forever. |
|
AI
have acted in the great theaters of São
Paulo and other state capitals, and my name
has become part of the Latin music history of Brazil, as I acted
under the direction of the great late theater director Flavio
Rangel. |

Mercedes Sosa -
whom I had known early in life, spent whole evenings rehearsing
in my house with my uncle. She became the group's artistic godmother”,
and it was really a thrill for me to sing with her at the Procópio
Ferreira Theater, and years later at the Palace as a special
guest. |

DLater
I started my solo career, when I toured France,
Ecuador, Argentina, Chile, Spain, and recently Finland,
where I represented my country in the spectacle: “Buenos
Aires, All Tango" with the Sexteto
Tango group.
|
|
In
2003 I presented the show “Tango with Mariana”
at the Alfa Theater in
São Paulo and
went in a tour of twenty Brazilian capitals. |
|
I give myself in with intensity and love for everything I do.
Right now I am preparing for the show, |
